OPC Client Security in SLIK-DAC
OPC Security Introduction
Most OPC servers contain sensitive production
data or information that is valuable to the
enterprise. For this
reason, it is important for your
organization to protect this
information from unauthorized access
or changes.
To secure your server data, both the server and the client must provide OPC security interface support.
 | The server security identifies which clients have
access to server data and defines the type
of access they are granted. |
 | The client security provides a means to gain access secured server objects. The client
will request access to a secured object and
the server will validate (or authenticate) the
client before allowing access. |
SLIK-DAC Now Implements OPC Security
Any OPC client wanting to communicate with a
secured server must support the OPC client-side security interfaces. SLIK-DAC now provides an easy-to-use set of methods to logon and logoff any OPC server supporting the OPC Private Security Interface.
Evaluation Software
To learn more, download
the SLIK-DAC evaluation software. The evaluation software includes a sample OPC client implementation demonstrating client-side OPC Security support. Test the sample client against your secured server.
If you do not have a secured server, download and install the SLIK-DA evaluation software (for creating OPC servers). Test against one of the the included sample servers in this toolkit. |
